Since Lake Titicaca is located in Puno, about 8 hours from Cusco, this tour includes an overnight bus ride, allowing you to maximize your time exploring. For extra comfort, you can upgrade your seat to enjoy a more relaxing journey.
If you prefer a more relaxed experience, consider our 2-Day Titicaca Lake Tour from Cusco. This option gives you extra time to explore the islands, connect with local communities, and fully appreciate the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Titicaca.
Your Lake Titicaca adventure begins the night before departure. At 10:00 p.m., you’ll board a comfortable overnight bus from Cusco to Puno, embarking on an 8-hour journey through the breathtaking Andean highlands. Travel worry-free—our team will provide your roundtrip bus tickets and all the necessary details a day before your tour. Rest along the way and wake up to the stunning altiplano landscapes as you arrive in Puno at dawn.
Upon arrival in Puno at 6:00 a.m., our team will meet you and transfer you to the port of Lake Titicaca, where you’ll join other travelers coming from Bolivia and Lima. At 7:00 a.m., we set sail on a scenic boat ride to the Uros Floating Islands, a fascinating community living on artificial islands made entirely of Totora reeds. Here, you will have over 30 minutes to interact with the Uros people, learn about their centuries-old traditions, and even take an optional ride on a traditional reed boat with a small extra cost to support the local community.
Next, we continue with a one-hour boat ride to Taquile Island, arriving around noon. This island is world-renowned for its vibrant textile art, recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. You will hike about 30 minutes to the viewpoint where you will enjoy a delicious traditional meal while admiring panoramic views of Lake Titicaca. The Taquileños, known for their intricate weaving techniques, will welcome you with music, dance, and cultural demonstrations, giving you a unique insight into their way of life.
After soaking in the beauty and culture of Taquile Island, we embark on our journey back to Puno, arriving around 5:00 p.m. You’ll have free time to explore the historic center of Puno, visit local markets, or take an optional trip to the Temple of Fertility, a mystical site filled with ancient legends. At 10:00 p.m., board the overnight bus back to Cusco, where you’ll arrive at 5:00 a.m., concluding your unforgettable full-day tour to Lake Titicaca.
Lake Titicaca is a year-round destination with a stable climate and we have daily departures for this tour. The dry season (April to October) offers sunny days and clear skies, making it perfect for sightseeing. From January to February, occasional rain showers occur, but they don’t disrupt the experience—on the contrary, they add a mystical touch to the lake’s beauty. No matter when you visit, Titicaca always offers an unforgettable experience.
At 3,812 m (12,500 ft) above sea level, the lake’s altitude is high, but if you’ve already spent time in Cusco, you should be well-acclimated. The tour includes one short hike per day, but they are gentle and suitable for most travelers. While not strenuous, taking it slow and staying hydrated will ensure a comfortable experience.
Even though the days can be pleasant (around 10°C), nights can drop to 2°C, so warm clothing is essential. A windproof jacket, gloves, and a hat will keep you comfortable during the cooler hours.
The tour includes three meals, but breakfast on the first day and lunch on the last day are not covered. We recommend bringing at least $30 per person for meals, snacks, and any souvenirs. Small denominations of cash are best, as many local vendors do not accept cards.
Get ready to explore the floating islands and experience the traditions of the Andean people in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
