For the best experience, we recommend avoiding full moon nights, as the brightness makes it harder to see the stars. The best time for stargazing is during a new moon, when the sky is darkest, allowing you to see Saturn, Jupiter, the Milky Way, and many other stars. Check the moon calendar before booking to choose the best night for this experience.
Your adventure starts at 10:00 p.m. when we pick you up from your hotel in Uyuni. After a 30-minute drive, we arrive at the salt flat, where the open landscape offers the perfect setting to enjoy the night sky. Here, you’ll see constellations, nebulae, planets, and the Milky Way stretching across the sky. If you visit during the rainy season, you’ll witness the breathtaking mirror effect, where the sky reflects perfectly on the water. Our guide will help you spot key celestial bodies and explain their significance. After about two hours of stargazing and taking photos, we return to Uyuni, arriving at your hotel around 12:30 a.m.
The Uyuni Salt Flat is one of the best places in the world for stargazing. With no light pollution, high altitude, and clear skies, you get an incredible view of the universe. During the rainy season (December to April), a thin layer of water covers the salt, creating a giant mirror that reflects the sky—making it look like you’re walking among the stars. At 3,660 meters (12,000 feet) above sea level, the thin atmosphere allows you to see the Milky Way with clarity.
