On the first day, you’ll travel through the Sacred Valley, visiting Chinchero, Moray, and the Maras Salt Mines before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes. The next morning, you’ll explore the citadel of Machu Picchu with an expert guide who will unveil its fascinating history and hidden secrets.

Your adventure begins with an early morning hotel pickup between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. in Cusco. Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming Andean village known for its well-preserved Inca terraces, colonial church, and vibrant textile workshops. Here, you’ll see local artisans using ancient techniques to create stunning Andean fabrics of alpaca wood.
Next, we visit the Maras Salt Mines, an impressive landscape of thousands of salt pools carved into the mountainside. These pools, still harvested using traditional methods, create a mesmerizing contrast against the surrounding Andean scenery. Continuing our journey, we explore Moray, an impressive Inca agricultural laboratory. Its circular terraces, resembling an amphitheater, were used by the Incas to experiment with different crops and microclimates.
By midday, we arrive in Urubamba for a well-deserved buffet lunch, offering a delicious selection of Peruvian and international cuisine.
After lunch, we head to Ollantaytambo, home to one of the most significant Inca fortresses. This living Inca town, with its well-preserved streets and massive stone terraces, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. Here, we board the panoramic train for a breathtaking ride to Aguas Calientes, following the winding Urubamba River through lush cloud forests and dramatic Andean landscapes.
Once in Aguas Calientes, our team will welcome you and accompany you to your hotel, where you’ll have time to settle in. As the evening sets in, we will gather for a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Here, you’ll meet your guide, who will provide all the essential details for your visit to Machu Picchu the next day. This relaxed and informative evening sets the stage for the highlight of your journey.

Immerse yourself in the wonders of Moray, a must-visit destination on your Sacred Valley tour. Situated in Peru’s stunning Sacred Valley, these ancient terraced circles showcase the advanced agricultural techniques of the Inca Empire. Explore Moray’s unique historical and cultural significance as you delve into the heart of this extraordinary region.
We will start the day early in Aguas Calientes, boarding the first bus to Machu Picchu to witness the stunning sunrise over the ancient Inca citadel. If you prefer a more adventurous approach, you can hike up to the entrance with a 1.5-hour hike through lush cloud forests.
Upon arrival, our expert guide will lead a fascinating two-hour tour. You will visit the most important temples, terraces, and ceremonial sites, uncovering the mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, you will learn about its history, architectural marvels, and spiritual significance, all while admiring the breathtaking mountain scenery.
As the adventure comes to an end, we will descend to Aguas Calientes for a relaxing lunch at the restaurant of your preference. Later, we will board the scenic train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, a private vehicle will take us on the final stretch to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 p.m. depending on the train schedule you select during the booking. This marks the end of an unforgettable experience in one of the world’s most extraordinary destinations.

Machu Picchu is a year-round destination, and each season offers a unique charm. From April to October, the dry season brings clear blue skies and excellent visibility, ideal for photography and uninterrupted exploration. On the other hand, from November to March, the rainy season transforms the landscape into a lush green paradise. With fewer crowds, the atmosphere feels more peaceful and mystical. While light showers are common, they rarely disrupt the tour.
No matter when you visit, Machu Picchu always delivers breathtaking views and a deep sense of history.
Before arriving in Cusco (3,400 m / 11,150 ft above sea level), taking precautions against altitude sickness is essential. To help your body adjust, stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and rest upon arrival. If you have extra time, consider exploring Cusco or the Sacred Valley first. These destinations sit at a slightly lower altitude, offering a smoother transition before heading to Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, or Humantay Lake.
Machu Picchu isn’t just about the main ruins. Inside the citadel, you can explore several lesser-known spots that add to the experience. Huayna Picchu Mountain and Machu Picchu Mountain require booking in advance, but they reward visitors with stunning panoramic views from above. For those who prefer a more relaxed walk, the Sun Gate and the Inca Bridge are excellent alternatives.
To fully appreciate the history of the Incas, we highly recommend visiting other key destinations before reaching Machu Picchu. Start in Cusco, the Inca capital, where ancient ruins and colonial architecture blend seamlessly in a half-day tour. Then continue your journey to either Humantay Lake, a breathtaking turquoise lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks, or Rainbow Mountain, a stunning natural wonder with vibrant, multicolored slopes and panoramic Andean views of the Ausangte.
By exploring these places first, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the Inca civilization and Andean wonders, making your Machu Picchu visit even more meaningful.
This tour is perfect for travelers of all ages, as it doesn’t require strenuous hiking. Whether you’re young or senior, you’ll experience the magic of Machu Picchu comfortably and without physical strain. Join us for this unforgettable journey, and let the beauty of the Inca citadel amaze you!
